Heading into the conference finals, my record was 7-5 in these playoffs. Let’s take a look at where I stand with just one round to go:

Bucks defeat Hawks 4-2

Suns defeat Clippers 4-1

Damn those Suns not closing them out in Phoenix! But nonetheless, I improved to 9-5 in this postseason and have my sights on double-digits.

Milwaukee comes into these finals banged up; they’ve been without starting wing Donte DiVincenzo since the first round, and now the 2x MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo is day-to-day with a knee issue. The lack of depth could really haunt the Bucks, as the team they’re facing comes in rested and healthy.

They were able to exorcise a lot of demons even with the injuries, thanks to Durant wearing shoes one size too big and Trae Young bruising his bone, but they are in the finals and have proven that this core has championship potential. Will it be enough against Phoenix?

The Suns come into this series white-hot. Granted, they beat the Lakers without Davis, the Nuggets without Murray, and the Clippers without Kawhi, but Chris Paul is playing some of the best ball of his career and Booker has ascended into stardom. With Monty Williams helming the ship, they are rolling at the right time.

The best thing Phoenix has going for them is that they are healthy. While Milwaukee is limping into the finals, Phoenix is sprinting. They’ve had plenty of rest, have a plethora of wings to throw at Middleton, and they have home court advantage. Because of all that, give me Phoenix Suns 4, Milwaukee Bucks 1.

There you have it! The 2021 NBA champions will be the Phoenix Suns, beating the Milwaukee Bucks in 5 games and Devin Booker will be the Finals MVP.
